Hevea Act 3: Before the Blight Hit, 2021

Latex, steel, hardware, mouth-blown coloured glass panes, screenprint on Kozo paper, each 58 x 84 cm.

In Hevea Act 3: Before the Blight Hit a reworked, archival panorama of Henry Ford’s failed neocolonial rubber plantation, Fordlândia, is presented alongside the resource Ford desired to extract from the Amazon, a latex curtain sculpture that partially obscures and partially reveals the image that lies behind it.

First presented as part of the exhibition Mutual Matters: Goldrausch 2021 at the Fahrbereitschaft / Haubrock Foundation, Berlin-Lichtenberg, November 2021.
