The first act in the ongoing Hevea series combines installation, sculpture, print and animation to tell a story of how humans shape and are shaped by the world and its non-human actants. Natural rubber, an organic material transformed by humanity, becomes a metaphorical and physical manifestation of the ways in which human and plant bodies are bound up with industry, imperialism and capitalism.
