Bethan Hughes works with computer-generated animation, sculpture, installation and print. She is interested in the political, cultural, social and sensual implications of screen-based representation and how the biological and the bodily–that which is material, messy and decaying–is often at odds with the processes which govern contemporary life.

In 2018, she established Poor Image Projects︎ (PIP) with Anya Stewart-Maggs. PIP is a nomadic event series for moving-image and audio visual art.

In 2020, she is a Braunschweig Projects︎ fellow.
